Radial Seal Air Filters Mixing Brands of Outer and Inner Elements | ||

The radial seal air filters which Baldwin recently introduced were designed to directly replace the OEM versions of these products. As OEM's or other aftermarket manufacturers may change their design at any time, we recommend that Baldwin radial seal filters only be used with their mating Baldwin outer or Baldwin inner filter elements.
The unique design of the radial seal filter assembly requires correct mating of the inner and outer elements to each other as well as the mounting tube. Key aspects of the mating arrangement include the diameters of the inner and outer seals, as well as the overall lengths of the outer and inner elements. If seals are not correctly established between the elements and the |
mounting tube, leaks may occur. If the lengths of the elements do not mate, leaks may occur due to improper seating of the elements to each other or to the mounting tube. The Baldwin outer and inner element filters have been designed to mate with each other to eliminate any possibility of either type of leak from occurring.
The degree to which the outer and inner elements fit with one another and the housing determines the performance of the filter assembly. Due to this, it is difficult to make generalized statements regarding the use of radial seal filters manufactured by different companies. Therefore, we feel it is advisable to use only Baldwin Filters' elements in these applications. | |
