New Bar Coding Method For Baldwin Products

Baldwin Filters has begun to implement a change to the labeling used on Baldwin products and packaging. Effective immediately you will begin to see UPC (Universal Product Code) bar codes in place of the Code 39 (AKA 3 of 9) bar code which has previously been used. UPC is a widely recognized and efficient coding system.

UPC bar coding, which is the same as that used in grocery stores for example, will detail more information than was previously available with Code 39. The UPC bar code will appear as follows:

The bar code contains the following information:

Baldwin Filters
Baldwin number e.g. BD103
In addition, the UPC code carries a numeric code which can also be used to identify the product. For the preceding bar code, the following number identifies this as a Baldwin Filters BD103.

7 91440 00139 8 A complete Cross-Reference of UPC codes to Baldwin part numbers and Baldwin to UPC is contained in the new 1995 Baldwin Cross-Reference - Product Guide, Form 56 (pages 639-656).

UPC codes are already being used on labels for heavy duty air filters and is beginning to be applied on spin-on filters using new high quality printing equipment which has just been added.
