NEW BALDWIN BD103 GASKET DESIGN | |
|
Baldwin Filters is pleased to announce a new and improved gasket design for the BD103 dual-lube filter (see schematic below).
The former BD103 gasket was secured with an interference fit inside the seam of the filter. Occasionally, Baldwin Filters would receive reports of the gasket falling out of the end of the filter when attempting to install the filter on some applications. The newly designed BD103 gasket snaps into a groove in the filter seaming cover. This design has been proven to retain the gasket even when the filter is inverted and shaken. Additionally, the new gasket is made of a higher temperature resistant compound. |
Some newer engines are operating at increasingly higher temperatures. To avoid any problems which could result, the gasket material has been specially formulated to provide high temperature resistance.
A by-product of the new compound will be an improved gasket appearance. The new BD103 gasket will also provide better compression characteristics than the previous gasket. Overall, this new gasket has been thoroughly tested in the lab and the field to provide the form, fit, and function our customers have come to expect from a Baldwin product. Filters with the new gasket will be appearing in February 1997. |
